The “Energy Systems Laboratory” is sustained by the Energy and Electrotechnologies Management Research Center and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of “Petru Maior” University, and it serves as both a research and as an educational facility. It is equipped with devices and equipment used in the field of energy systems and for studying their behavior in different operating regimes. The laboratory includes various units that contain specific equipment found in energy systems, such as: renewable energy units, different types of generators and consumers, transmission lines, protection systems, communication interfaces and data-acquisition software that enables supervision and recording of the system parameters, etc.
Through their specifications, the existing equipment provide the necessary technical conditions for: power system analysis and design; implementing, testing and validating different laws and algorithms; the study of different operating regimes; supervision of energy systems parameters; detection of energy systems response under different conditions; fault simulation; training of specialists in the field of Energy Systems Engineering etc.
